Online Therapy, sometimes referred to as video counseling, telehealth or e-therapy, is a great way to get the support you need without having to come into the psychotherapy office. Especially during this time of COVID-19, online therapy provides you a way to get support when you most need it.
Online sessions are conducted via a HIPAA compliant platform similar to Skype, or via the telephone.
It’s easy, convenient and accessible. Prior to your first session, I simply provide you with a link, and you do not need to sign up to anything to join the video call. Just click on the link and we will be begin your secure and confidential video session.
It is my goal to resume all sessions in person as quickly as possible. I will be closely following the recommendations of the CDC and our local agencies during the COVID-19 emergency to gauge when it is safe to begin seeing people in the office again.
Please be assured that I will be conducting my online sessions in a quiet and private office space, providing you the same high quality and professionalism that you experience in my office.
Please contact me today if you are interested in getting started with online therapy.
Online Therapy FAQ’s
Q: How does it work?
A: Prior to your session, I send you a link that takes you directly to my virtual waiting room. You will not need any special apps and you do not need to sign up for anything to do video sessions. You can use your phone, tablet or computer.
Q: Is online therapy private and confidential?
A: I use Doxy.me which is HIPAA compliant. It’s actually used by medical doctors to talk with their patients. All sessions are secure and confidential.
Q: What if I can’t find a private space in my house to make the video call?
A: I completely understand how difficult it can be, especially during this shelter-in-place, to find a quiet, private space in your home. You can consider taking your phone to your car for the session or going on a walk. If you are unable to do video sessions, we can do phone sessions instead.
Q: Is online therapy just as effective as in-person sessions?
A: For some clients, online therapy takes a little getting used to. Honestly, it was weird for me at first too. However, once you get past the initial feeling of doing an online session, most people find it just as effective and helpful. Some clients really enjoy the comfort of being in their own home. And, some clients find that they can talk more freely without having to sit face-to-face with the therapist. Everyone is different and I can help you along the way with any discomfort or challenges that may arise with online therapy.
Q: Is there a different fee for online therapy?
A: The fee for online therapy is the same as my fee for in-office sessions.
